Letter 1:
Subject: Apology for missing meeting due to sickness
Dear Sir, I, Johnson, want to express my feelings of sorry and submit my apology for not being able to attend the meeting which was held on [date]. I can understand the level of inconvenience you may have faced due to my absence from the meeting but I was not intended to leave this meeting intentionally. I knew the importance it was carrying for my career but due to unavoidable circumstances, I had to skip it.
Just a night before the meeting I had a severe attack of food poisoning. It was so sudden and acute that I was brought to the hospital with the help of my neighbor. The hospital started my treatment and kept me under observation for the whole night. Facing that panic, I had completely forgotten that I had to attend and lead an important meeting. The irony of fate was that I was not able to inform you about the situation because of my sickness.
I had never thought of missing such an important meeting as you may have noticed how enthusiastically I was making all the arrangements for that meeting but I could not make that happen which was a painful thing for me.
I have attached all the relevant documents with this letter including doctor’s recommendations and detailed hospital discharge instructions for the patients as proof of my statement.
At the same time, I request you to accept my apology and give me another chance to attend the meeting the next time. Thanking you in anticipation for understanding my problem.

Letter 2:
Subject: Apology for missing meeting due to sickness
Dear Sir,
I want to express my sorry feelings and submit my apology to you for not making myself able to attend the meeting held on [date]. I request you to believe every single word of this letter because I had never thought of missing this meeting due to the great importance it was carrying with it.
The reason behind not attending this meeting was that I had been suffering from a viral infection. On [date], just a day before the meeting, its symptoms suddenly appeared. Soon, it became so severe that I was immediately taken to the hospital where I was kept in the intensive care unit for many hours.
I was not able to inform any of my colleagues in the office because all of my belongings, including my personal cellular phone, were retained by the hospital staff for sanitization purposes. After giving me the required treatment, I was not allowed to leave the hospital because doctors were of the view that I must rest for a few days so that the virus would not pass to others.
I have been working in this company for the last ten years and throughout this period, I never gave you any chance of complaint owing to my unprofessional behavior. But the situation this time was totally different. I was not able to even inform you about it.
So, keeping in view my problem and my past performance, please accept my apology and don’t take any disciplinary steps against me. I will make sure not to show this kind of unprofessional behavior in the future. Thanking you in anticipation.
